SENEGAL Here is Sonko’s true record (Two years for nothing)

Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko is preparing to present what he pompously calls a report after two years in office. It will be a complete waste of time.

But, even before he speaks, one question arises: Will this assessment live up to the expectations of the Senegalese people, or is it just another communication operation to mask the lack of concrete results?

Between a president, Faye, held hostage by the balances of PASTEF and a prime minister, already campaigning for 2029, Senegal is sinking into an unprecedented economic and social crisis.

What if, instead of waiting for a misleading assessment, we addressed the real challenges that this government has failed to meet right now?

Ousmane Sonko has mastered the art of political communication (our photo).

Every speech, every trip, every announcement, is calculated to reinforce his image.

But, behind the speeches, what remains for the Senegalese?

Unemployment at 23.3%, compared to 20% in 2024, with 27.4% among young people.
Public debt at 132% of GDP, an unsustainable burden for future generations.
Growth in freefall: 2.2% in 2026 compared to the promised 3%.
Where are the promised jobs? Where are the structural reforms?

Health: Budget cut by 18.7%, drug shortages.
Education: 8,000 teachers recruited out of the 10,000 promised.
Electricity: Daily power outages.

The hospitals lack everything.
How can one justify spending political funds to finance presidential projects while the people are suffering?
Was Bassirou Diomaye Faye elected with Sonko’s blessing?
Since then, he seems to be under Sonko’s control.

Every major decision requires the approval of the Prime Minister, as if the Palace were under control.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye has his fist raised against whom? Against Sonko?

A president held hostage, a prime minister perpetually campaigning: This paints a picture of a paralyzed government.
Everything suggests that Ousmane Sonko is already preparing for 2029.
He is consolidating alliances within PASTEF and beyond.
He controls information and masters communication.
He is using the 2026 Youth Olympic Games as a media springboard.

He leaves the president, Faye, to take responsibility for the failures, while positioning himself as the savior.

The scenario is clear:
2024-2026: Sonko consolidates his power.
2027-2028: Sonko prepares his campaign.
2029: Sonko presents himself as a savior, with a misleading but well-marketed record.
Meanwhile, Senegal sinks deeper.
Solutions, not speeches.

An emergency employment plan: 50,000 young people recruited in priority sectors (health, education, agriculture) by the end of 2026.
A citizen audit: Publish all contracts related to major projects (Youth Olympics, infrastructure).
A refocusing of spending: Freeze non-essential projects and redirect funds to social emergencies.

Repeal the amnesty law and prosecute those responsible for the violence against protesters.
Guarantee the right to protest without repression.
To Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko:
Your record should not be a public relations exercise.

This must be an opportunity for accountability.
The Senegalese people expect action, not words.

To President Faye:
Free yourself from Sonko’s influence:
Make strong decisions for the people, not for a party.

Restore the authority of the State.

Under Macky Sall, Senegalese youth left the country en masse in makeshift boats to risk their lives at sea. Under the Faye-Sonko duo, nothing has changed for them. What a shame!

To the Senegalese people:
Don’t be manipulated!
Demand accountability for broken promises.
Mobilize for real change.
Even before Sonko presents his record, one thing is certain:
Two years of governance means two years of broken promises.
Two years where personal interest has often taken precedence over the common good.
Two years where a president held hostage and a prime minister perpetually campaigning have allowed Senegal to sink further.
The time has come to say STOP to this downward spiral.
Senegal deserves better than misleading achievements.
Senegal deserves results!
